Who is writing for Garden Making?

We are committed to providing you with a high-quality magazine produced by some of the most knowledgeable and talented writers and photographers in Canada. Every issue includes more than 70 pages of articles, photographs and illustrations. Editor Beckie Fox has assembled a talented team of contributors.

What’s the Garden Making Risk-Free Guarantee?

When you decide to subscribe, you can ask to receive a bill.  When you receive the magazine, if you’re not satisfied, let us know and you will have no further obligation. When you do pay for your subscription, if Garden Making fails to give you information and inspiration, then you may contact us for a full refund of every penny you’ve paid — guaranteed.

When will I receive my first issue?

We are a quarterly magazine published four times a year. Here’s our schedule of issues and mailing dates. Once an issue goes on sale, we mail out copies of the current issue for about two weeks. Otherwise, your subscription will start with the next issue.

How many issues are published each year?

As a quarterly, we publish four issues a year, with the seasons.  You can lock in your savings (and avoid future tax increases!) by selecting the option to order a 2-year (8 issues) or 3-year (12 issues) subscription.

What are subscription prices?

You save with a subscription and enjoy the convenience of mail delivery before the issue goes on sale in stores. Save even more by signing up for a two-year or three-year subscription.  The savings are compared to the $5.95 cover price:

Because of higher postage costs, subscriptions to the U.S. are $30 a year and to other countries $48 a year.
Do you accept credit cards and is your site secure?
Yes, you can pay with major credit cards. Our site uses 128-bit SSL encryption to protect confidental data such as credit card details to ensure secure transactions.

What taxes do I pay?
We are required by the government to collect taxes based on the province of delivery of the magazine. For instance, the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) took effect in Ontario and British Columbia on July 1, 2010.

Can I subscribe to Garden Making outside Canada or give it as a gift outside Canada?

Yes, we’re delighted to arrange delivery outside Canada. However, we do need to charge more for postage to the U.S., United Kingdom and other countries. You will be charged the rate for the U.S. or for other countries when you enter an address outside Canada on the Subscribe form. For delivery outside Canada, we ask for payment in advance because the postage cost is so expensive.

How do I change my address or contact information?

Will you give my email address to others?

Your options about receiving emails from us

No, as explained in our Privacy Policy, we will not share your email address or phone number with anyone else. You can tell us whether you wish to receive updates about the new issues of Garden Making or our weekly e-newsletter sent on Wednesdays. To let us know (see example), just update your Account Preferences. Also, we ask you to let us know if you wish to receive the Zinio digital edition in addition to your physical magazine. And we ask you about your preference for receiving physical mailings of relevant offers from other marketers.  Just log in to Your Account.

Can I order by mail and send you a cheque?

What’s the GaMa image all about?

When we began developing Garden Making magazine, Design Director Gary Hall did what lots of us do when we become excited about something—he gave Garden Making a nickname, a friendly contraction of “GaMa.” It started as a simple way of labeling files and directories. Before long, others on the team picked up the GaMa expression. It’s a short form that reflects the fun and pleasure that we have in crafting Garden Making for you. And, of course, when asked how to express GaMa as an image, Gary created the GaMa image for us to use.

Does Garden Making have an environmental policy?
Yes, as gardeners, we naturally think about the environmental impact of our activities. As magazine publishers, we are committed to making decisions that reflect responsible environmental practices and have outlined our Environmental policy.

What if I receive duplicate copies of the same issue?
If you receive a second copy of an issue that you already have, please let us know. This happens sometimes, for instance, if you buy a copy in a store and decide to subscribe, we won’t know that you already have thttp://www.gardenmaking.com/wp-admin/theme-editor.phphat issue so we mail you a copy. By letting us know, we will make sure your subscription starts with the next issue. And we’ll ask you to pass the second copy along to someone who might appreciate it.

Is there a digital edition?
Magazines Canada digital newsstandYes, you can purchase a single copy or an annual subscription to the digital edition of Garden Making in the Zinio format. Here’s where to order the digital edition. Please note that, for now, we are providing print subscribers with access to our digital edition at no additional cost and in addition to the print subscription.  Interested subscribers should request the digital edition on their Account Preferences.

What is a Charter Subscription?
A charter member is an original or founding member of an organization. Charter subscribers are those who signed up for Garden Making during 2010 — our launch year of publishing.
